For my bikes 1st birthday I'm getting it a new set of pipes, more chrome (c'mon it is a harley after all) and saddlebags.

Honestly, I don't mind the quietness of my stock pipes, but they're so high on the bike I need to change them out to get decent sized saddlebags. So here's my question, which pipes?

Suggestions so far;

Sampsons
Vance & Hines
Screaming Eagles

Any feedback from the forum?

Any of the 3 should work well. You wanting mufflers or just straight pipes?

I have personally heard the screaming eagle pipes with mufflers and they sound really good

The quality of my Vance and Hines pipes is poor, and until I repacked them they wre stupidly loud....and they were marketed as a slightly louder than stock alternative. Never again.

I think it really depends on what your looking for, especially with a cruiser there are so many different pipes out there. I have cycle shack slip-ons on my sportster and the sound they give is really nice, not too loud. However, I am looking at replacing them because I don't like the look. I always liked the vance and hines short shots, until I found out about Bassani pro-streets. Those pipes are SWEET!!! Finally though it all depends on how loud you want to get, and if you don't want to lose performance.

There are sooo many brands & models out there, search the Net & choose what style you like for your bike.

I have used SE, Sampson, Locally made pipes & Bub.

Samsons look cheap, and VH's have quality issues (two of the models offered for my bike were yanked due to cracking). I vote for the Screamin' Eagles, though I'm sure they're probably the most expensive.

Lots of great advice here...which is why I asked

I'm replaceing the whole pipe, mostly to lower the horizontal hieght and give more room for the proposed saddlebags.

So it sounds like the SE are going to be the way to go....they're a little more money, but I don't want to have to change them again in the near future...so go with the quality I guess:)

If you want to spend a little less money, you can get the cycle shack pipes. They are about the same as far as sound and looks as the SE's, but cost less.

I'm going to head back to the dealership on monday during a time of day when it's a little quieter, finalize everything that'll be done and make sure they have all the bits and pieces. I didn't write down the part number of the SE pipes the parts guy showed me, but they looked like these. This isn't the dealership I'm working with, my local one is so bad they don't even have the pipes up on their own website.

What concerns me now about the SE is the disclaimer that they'll void the warranty. I was told the pipes he showed me wouldn't after I specifically asked if they would.

At this point, I might just go to a different dealership further south in Miami, which is supposedly owned by a guy who has built a reputation for great customer service. Did my MSF there, and all the guys seemed friendly and knowledgeble.
