Can anyone here tell me why a training school or company might have on their website the statement... "Approved Course but MSF Logo forbidden"?

There's a school that's really close to home for me that I was planning to attend, but this has been bugging me. If they're "approved" could this mean they may not be sanctioned? I actually got their name and number from the MSF website (but you know how websites can go without being updated). They were originally based out of American Iron Horse, but they are independent now. I looked for a contact number for MSF and only found the one to find a course. They are recognised by Texas DOT and their Cert will bypass the riding test for a license.

Any thoughts?

they have the MSF logo.

anyway, as long you can get your DL389 form(or whatever they it call there) from them, you should be fine.

i was gonna check the FAQ section but it's not working on the site you posted.

Mikeydude, I noticed on your link to that site that there is a "Contact" link. Try it...maybe they will reply to an email as to why they can't use the MSF logo.

Dear Mr. xxxxxx:

Moto-Ed is an MSF-recognized training provider. That means they offer RiderCourses that are Motorcycle Safety Foundation curriculum. The text you quoted regarding the use of MSF's logo is in relationship to laws protecting our property. Moto Ed's site is not an MSF website.

I would still look into that training. Not everything MSF does is considered the best standard, and some states have other officlaly recognized alternative courses, such as Team Oregon (in Oregon) and Idaho slao is non-MSF I think. Some other western states are also considering establishing their own motorcycle training courses. I passed the Team Oregon course, which meant I did'nt have to take a seperate riding exam by the State DMV.

I intend to take the course... most likely from this company now that they check out ok through MSF. I'm a geezer and I have learned to not take companies at face value without looking into things 1st. I've had too many pat me on the back with a knife in their hand to trust them at this late date.

Keep us posted on your progress. I just completed the basic course through the local Community College and it was an awesome experience. We had 11 persons pass and 1 that did not (dropped bike 3 times, low speed).

I think you are right to make sure this company is legit. You do not want to take your certificate to the DMV and have them tell you it is not worth the paper it is printed on.

Definitely make sure the company is legit. There is a company in NY that recently lost their sanction or endorsement or whatever ya call it to provide the MSF BRC. Friend of mine was scheduled to take the course starting tomorrow and a few days ago sent a letter or an email to that effect. What really sucks is that the DMV recommended this particular place
