Opinions on the Ducati SportClassic Sport 1000

I have liked this bike every since I saw it a couple of months ago. I was just wondering if anybody seen any reviews, or have even ridden this bike before. I would really like to get some opinions on this motorcycle. If it turns out to be as good of a bike as it looks I may have to purchase one.


I'm really diggin the cafe racer look. :D

Beautiful bike, and I would go for one myself if the riding position wasn't so extreme. These guys pretend to test one but it reads more like a brochure than a test:

Sitting on one, it was hard not to look across the showroom and think about how comfy a Monster is..... :lol:

Hmmmmm a monster. Does anybody make aftermarket clip-on's for that bike? I guess I need to find a dealer ship so I can check these models out.

I have never sat on a Sport Classic 1000 before, if you had to compare the ergos to another bike what would you compare it to?

Clip-ons on a monster. there is no need. The monster has an agressive but comfortable riding position in its stock configuration. The monsters bars have about the perfect amount of rise for a sport oriented street bike.

That sport classic looks about as accomodating as a 600 super sport, maybe even less so

Would a monster be in the same category as a Buell Lightning? I am sorry if I offended anyone by saying that, I'm just trying to learn more about the Ducati's.

The Sport-Classic 1000 that I sat on was a prototype at a dealer here in Calgary(They brought it in for the unvieling, then sent it back). They feel ALOT like an old Ducati (torture rack). The biggest difference between the Sport-Classic and a 600 supersport is a longer reach to the bars. I would say that they are less comfortable than a modern 600. If you must have clip-ons though, they might be for you....

They're cool looking bikes but you may also want to look at the Triumph Thruxton or Triumph Bonneville T100. With a few small mods you can do some really nice custom cafe racer type things and you may end up with a more practical ride. Depends on what you're looking for.

I talked to a co-worker today and he said that he had a triumph back in the 70s and he said that he worked on it more than he rode it. Of course this is just one old guy talking, but did triumph have a bad past like harley-davidson when they were built by a.m.f.?

Hell the thurxton is a factory built cafe racer.

And yes the Monster is in the same category as the buell Lightning. Both are sport standards aka naked sportbikes. Looks aside the two are pretty close. both have comfortable riding positions, similar in power, and both are supposed to handle really well, and are close in price
