I bought the 1982 Maxim XJ650J-B

Well, I went and checked out the 1982 Maxim 650 and bought it. My friend will be riding it to my house later today. Can't wait to poke around at it. Is there a place I can find a breakdown of the VIN code? Also wanted to find out if there is a list somewhere of the official paint color names offered on the Maxim in 82. Bike looks and sounds great and can't wait to start riding it. Tomorrow I'm going to register it and take the written test to get my learners permit.

Have you ever ridin a street bike before?
Many say live to ride, I say ride is to live.

No I haven't ridden before. I will be taking the safety course in May. Already sent in the money, just waiting for them to tell me which weekend I will be taking the class. I'm not about to go cruising before I take the course. I'll spend the next month shining it up and maybe getting a feel for the clutch in my driveway.
