An older bike?

Hey I was wondering about a 87 Kawasaki Ninja GTZ400
What price range do you think it should be in? Just wondering
I am very new to this and not looking to get too fancy or spend too too much.. but I'd like to know if this is a good beginner bike.
And since I have only dealt with cars 87 seems kind of old.. But in previous posts somone referred to 86 not being too old if its a honda.
Would this bike need alot of work? (Assume its in good condition and well taken care of)
And he referred to a tune up..
I m not too sure what he means by that and would it cost alot?
