Texas Registration

Last year around this time when i picked up my plates for my new bike there was a blue sticker on the left that said FEB and a green sticker on the right that said 06. Now a year later i just received my new registration in the mail. This time it's only ONE sticker with both month and year on it. So I stuck it on top (covering) the old 06 sticker on the right. But the old FEB sticker is still on the left. What's up with this? They changed for this year? Luckily the month is the same so i guess that doesn't really matter.

I dunno much about registration in Texas honestly but I believe what we have to have two stickers. One that says when it's registered for and another for inspection. Maybe you're trying to cover the inspection sticker?

Edit: I just re-read it and have a better visualization of what you're talking about now and have no idea. Maybe someone else can clue us both in.

I recently checked because I have also gotten the new TX registration for this year this month.

The left one is the registration sticker, the right one is the inspection sticker. Hope this helps.

Crap, so what about blue sticker with the month punched out that hangs below the plate? That was my inspection sticker last year.
The two small stickers i had on the top part of the plate was the month on one side and the year on the other. So i think both of those combined was the registration. Now it seems like they combined the two into one. :humm:

The sticker that you got in the mail is your registration or road tax permit for the coming year. they go on the plate. You did fine do not remove them. The inspection sticker that hangs below the plate is replaced by a Texas automobile inspecter at a garage or place of inspection. They are identified by the map of the state of texas and say safty inspection station. They will check your bike for lites, head lite tail lite and stop lite, signals not required. They will check your tires, and for good braking. If I remember right mufflers are not required ether. Oh yes they check for liability insuranse also. I hope this helps you.

Mufflers not checked during TX bike inspection? Thats good news for me, I have an inspection coming up in a couple months and my bike has an aftermarket pipe on it that was installed before I bought it. Am not looking forward to shelling out money for a stock pipe.

So I am correct in assuming that the registration stickers are now combined into 1? If that's the case i wish they would use the now extra space on the plate for a small inspection sticker rather than that big blue ugly one.

One sticker is all you need for the registration, but I would not remove the old sticker that indicates the month. As for the ispection this is what I found in the book. Inspect every motorcycle for: 1. horn 2. mirror 3. steering 4. brakes(system) 5. tires 6. wheel assembly 7. exhaust system 8. tail lamp(1) 9. stop lamp(1) 10. licanse plate lamp 11. rear red reflector(1) 12. head lamp(1) 13. motor, serial, or vehicle identification number. I could not find specifics on the exhaust system of a motorcycle. But I think that the pipes are okay, because a lot of bikers use them without any problem from the law. And don't forget insurance.
