Electrical problems on 1996 Yamaha SECA II - HELP!

I have a 1996 Yamaha SECA II that I bought last year about this time. Ran fine all summer and found out later that it was VERY cold blooded. After taking in a few times the dealership decided it was because my battery wasn't holding a charge, so I bought a new one.

Fastforward to now, after being garage kept over the winter (and looked at by my mechanic back home, who found no probs) I take it out and it starts right up. I ride it for 2 days no problem. Then today I try to start it up and there is NO electrical reaction of any sort. No lights, neutral light not showing, won't turn over at all, no clicking or anything! I took the battery out and put it on my drip charger but it shows that it's fully charged... any ideas?

If not the fuse, check the ignition switch. I had the same problem with a 1980 yamaha maxim and it turned out to be in ingition switch (key switch). You should get at least the tail light when turning the switch to on but not started or running.

No lights or start

I had a similar issue with my seca 550 - the ignition switch gets warn out (especially if you ride with a bundle of keys hanging out the ignition putting strain on it) I replaced ignition switch and all was resolved.

i have a similar problem. . .

i have a 1982 yamaha 650 seca. the last few days there has been only a popping sound when pushing the start button. lights and horn ok.

the single "pop" comes from below the seat.

it takes around 20 or so trys then it will crank.

it started doing this after a heavy and cold rainfall.

any ideas?
