I agree. Assuming the car is a left-hand drive, the driver may not have ever seen the bike at all. The bike and rider sliding are going to have a profile all of two feet high, or less. That would effectively mask them behind the hood and fender of the car, from the driver's perspective.

It's very tough for me to realize that is real. I know it actually happened, but it doesn't seem real to me, thank god.

I guess there's something to be said for not riding at the very limit of your bikes potential on the street.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

True...but, I know I'm pretty acutely aware of traffic merging from onramps and such. He should have seen the bike, at least coming around, I think...Even if he did see the bike go down, you're right flynrider that the low profile of a sliding bike would prevent seeing much else...forget about anticipating/calculating the vector of a sliding bike.

WTF was the guy just going too fast? How did he lose it like that?
