Hello All,
As many of you know, I work at the Columbus Zoo in Ohio. I sat down with the head of Events last year and proposed my idea of hosting a motorcycle event here at the zoo, with free parking for bikes and other fringe benefits. Anyway, Honda Homecoming is typically held in August, and that event lasts from Thursday until Saturday at 6:00pm, then most people head home for a lack of anything better to do. My idea is to host a Cycle Weekend Saturday and Sunday in order to "piggy back" of Homecoming as well as give the out-of-towners somewhere else to go before leaving town.
Question is...how many of you would be interested in and able to attend such an event? Lemme know and I'll pass it along to the Events department.
Thanks!

Well, here's my deal. Me and the zoo don't get along too well. Aside of forcing myself to accompany my kids there during a school field trip, I avoid zoos. However... I would be willing to go and hang out in the parking lot. I know - how lame. But that's the best I could do. So count me in as long as I don't have to actually go in.
By the way, zoo or no zoo, I'd still like to hang out with you sometime that weekend at one of the events as well.
Cheers,
Loonette

Believe me, I understand. An institution designed to educate people on how they're destroying the lives of animals that, itself, houses animals in glass rooms. I have to bite my lip constantly, especially when someone in our meeting starts in about SUV's polluting the planet while their Lexus RX330 sits waiting in the parking lot.Loonette wrote:Well, here's my deal. The feeling is mutual, Looney. I'm wrapping up a few finishing touches on my bike while the weather turns for the better, so as soon as it's warm enough I'll be hitting as many events as I can. You and Scan have an open invitation as usual! Who knows, the three of us may even manage to ride together this year!Loonette wrote: By the way, zoo or no zoo, I'd still like to hang out with you sometime that weekend at one of the events as well.

I appreciate it, Vermi, but I have little to nothing to do with the animals. I work for the Planning and Design department. I engineer and fabricate exhibits and props, mostly A/V or computer related. I spent all last week making signs for the new train ride renovation and building message repeater podiums for Penguin and Koala. I graduated from DeVry University last October with a BS in Technical Management and am currently seeking another job with roughly twice the pay.VermilionX wrote:damn! my dream job is to work as a vet tech in a zoo. im currently working as an unregistered tech in a small animal hospital. i need to stop being a slacker in my studies.![]()
