So, I'm sure some of you read my thread on how I *almost* got screwed over this morning on that Ninja 250...well, I'm glad I didn't buy it because I found a much more professional dearlership....and, I kinda sorta bought a brand new 2005 SV650!!!!!!!!!! After a few hours, I ended up getting a great deal on the bike that I *really* wanted. I figured it was sign from above that the Ninja 250 didn't work out, and I should just go for it. Now, I know I'm a noob, but, I've taken the MSF course and from what I've read, the SV650 can be a great starter bike, even though it has some get up and go. I pick it up tomorrow afternoon, I'll be sure to post pics! See you on the road soon! Boo yah!

CONGRATULATIONS!! :kicking: :clapping:

Sure sounds like it was some sort of sign that the Ninja deal didn't work out. Glad to hear you found a dealership you can work with and trust. Keep the rubber side down tomorrow! 8)

naked is hot. ex 250 will likely be my first but then i think either the sv650 or fz6. fairings are a little flashy for my style and expensive/fragile from what i hear, even if they do serve a purpose.

i will try to fina your ninja 250 thread now.

congrads! I own sv650 too, and yes, for the most part, it is a smooth bike. (which reminds me, I still have to post pics. The site doesn't let you upload them, so I need to set up my webserver again.) It is noticably more torquey than gs500, and sometimes gives me a bit of a jump if I release the clutch to fast or twist the throttle too much. But as long as you respect its power, you'll be ok.

I disagree on the fairings though. I really like how sv looks with full fairings, but, as a beginner rider, adding even more plastic is the *last* thing you should do. Instead get frame sliders (http://www.motosliders.com/). Trust me on that one. ;-)

enjoy the ride.

There is a phsycological effect of adding sliders, like giving yourself permission to drop the bike. I would rather spend my money on training.
I also like the naked look and fairings are no good to you anything less than 140kmh

Is that a production bike? I like it that it has a 'futuristic' look to it, but don't think I'd bring myself to buy one. Sure is alot nice than some of the other concept bikes Ive seen.
