Weak low beams on SV650.

I have a 2005 Suzuki SV650 and I love everything about it except, I can't see "poo poo" at night on low beams. My after work commute is a night mare. My route home cuts thru some very rural areas where deer hits are high. My high beams light up the night with good depth and wide angle, but go back to low and it is like shutting out the sun. Any suggestions short of strapping my mag lights onto my helmet?

you could try a brighter bulb but i have to be honest as I tried that on my marauder and it didnt do jack dodo. i had to go with a lightbar. my suggestion is to ride with the brights on at night until you see a car coming, switch em to low, then back to high, etc.

This might seem stupid, but see if you can get the headlight off a wrecked Honda 599 and mod you SV a little to put it on there. I've got a tinted visor and even with that using the low beam I'm able to see well in the dark.

An inexpensive upgrade to your lighting that should make a huge difference is a
headlight relay kit and a new, brighter headlight bulb rated at the same power draw of your old bulb, like a Sylvania Extra Vision. Should run about $50 shipped for the relay kit and another $15 or so for the bulb.

I have an '05 SV650S, and the lowbeams are fine at night on it, but during the day you can't see them at all.
Yes, just what I needed

Ok, I like the relay kit info. I'll check that out. Thanks for everyone's help.

Have you layed it down or anything? You might just need to adjust the angle it's at, I know for sure that if it's pointing to high, you won't be able to see anything, but everyone coming towards you will think you have your brights on. Get a service manual and look up how to adjust the light, and then try it in a few different positions and see if that helps.
