Seca 550 Engine woes

I have an old 1982 seca 550, 4 cyl YICS carbs etc. - in great shape, never thrashed. Just started it again after winter storage and all of a sudden the crankcase pressure is over loaded and oil (and fuel mix - at least it smells like it) poured (almost sprayed) out through the air filter - there is a pressure release tube from top of crankcase to filter box....
Have I blown a piston ring? Valve? almost all of 2 liters of crank case oil is all over garage floor now. Strange thing is that engine was running and sounding fine - no crunching or grinding, upon adding revs the oil floods out. Any suggestions before I start to strip down this 4 cyl YICS lump!! Thanks

Would it make sense to do a compression test? I got the rocker cover off and the crank shafts are in fine shape - no dirt or anything

if you didnt drain the fuel tank before storing it sounds like all of it ended up in the oil pan.drain the oil pan and refill with fresh oil and see what happens.

Yep, if the carbs leaked fuel into the engine, it will have raised the oil level in the crankcase(and gas is a krappy lubricant, change it asap.), and if it's too full, it will be blown out the crankcase vent under normal running conditions.
It is also possible(not probable) that the gas leaking past the pistons washed all the oil out over the winter, and you stuck a ring. Fresh oil and a little run time should get things freed up and moving again.

yeah its your carbs...its happened to mine to many times to count on both hands.check your petcock too...my vacume diaphragm is all messed up too...so it could be that...but its probaly just a stuck float or something. clean your carb real good and change and flush your oil...and probaly change your oil filter too. your air filter will dry out eventually.
and let me know if you know where i can get a battery cover and other side cover at...
