Everyone say hello to my new SV!

Here you are ladies and gents! Here's some photos of my long awaited SV650. I just got back from driving it home from the dealership (about 9 miles). It went WAY better than I anticipated, and I only stalled it twice, haha. It feels like its going to be a great bike to start on, the power delievery is nice and smooth, but I can tell once I'm ready to get on it....its gonna go! Alright, enough of this internet crap, back to the streets!
(Oh, and I know what is going to be said here so I'll address it before hand...I DO have a full face and gloves, I just didn't have them on for the picture
)

Might as well get some frame sliders and some peace of mind. Make sure and get the correct torque specs.

Oh yeah, I actually signed on just now to pick up a pair of frame sliders and a hugger...since its raining out now and I don't want to dump my new bike beacuse I wanted to ride so bad I did something stupid in the rain. Its a great bike, its really forgiving...i've been doing a slow turn in first gear and not been super smooth on the throttle and it didn't even twitch, and I went to a parking lot to do some slow speed maneuver stuff like in the MSF and it handles great. Now if I could only figure out a way to get this rain to stop...(of course, the 2nd or 3rd rain since I moved here 9 months ago just HAS to be the weekend I pick up the bike)

Be careful. Unlike a little Ninja 250, the SV650 will wheelie in first-gear if you gun the throttle.

You may want to consider where your bike will touch down in the event of a mishap. Frame sliders are great in theory but an engine cover is a lot easier to repair/replace than a bent frame.
Add that to the fact that frame sliders are ugly as sin and you have the reasons why they will never be fitted to my bike.

So you think since I don't have fairings to worry about having to replace, an engine cover is the best way to go? I just want some protection incase I do something stupid...which isn't entirely out of the question....and I was thinking frame sliders because it looks like it might keep the rear brake/gear shifter from hitting the ground too, or am I a bit off on this?
