im so sore!

#1 Unread post by VermilionX »

today was the longest ride i took so far.

almost 70 miles one way... after the 1st 50 miles in the freeway, my butt and inner thighs hurt like cr@p. im constantly lifting my butt or changing positions a lot which helps.

my shoulders hurt too after 50 miles of freeway.

i think it hurts more since some parts of the freeway are very bumpy.

oh well, i'll get used to it.

i'll ask hawkster to send me pics of myself during the training but for now i only have these...

just some of the bikes... i didn't get the whole line-up.

hawkster's NSR...

almost there, just a little more...

If you continue to ride in that manner you will end up with a nice flat spot that will make cornering even harder.

Compared to the chicken strips (or the lack there of) on a couple of my friend's bikes, that's nothing.

Just stay safe and use your head VX, be careful riding like that. Just uhh, don't get dishearted if your front tire always has strips.

Sportsbikes generally use a softer compound of rubber so they will wear quicker but give better grip. They are also to designed to be worn evenly across the width of the tyre.
If you do almost all of your riding upright, or near enough to, they will only wear in the centre creating a flatspot in the tyre.
After a while cornering will become harder as when you lean it is easier to do so on a tyre with a consistently round profile as opposed to a square profile.

That's a given, but at this point it's better that he focus on keeping the bike up then on wearing the tire evenly. Also look at it closer, that's dust that's coloring it. When I roll my bike into the garage it looks like I only use the middle two inches because that's all that picks up dust and discolors the wheel.

Image
This one was about 1/2 way through my first season with my bike (aprox 3000km). Since then I've shaved it down to about 1/4 inch on either side, but like I said if I roll it straight across something that's dusty even for a few feet, it looks like I've only ever used the middle two inches.

I think he's doing pretty good, though focused a little to much on leaning or looking cool well doing it. So I'm glad to hear that Hawkster is around to help him out. Having friends who ride makes it a lot easier to get out there.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.
