Someone has stood up to the system and acknowledged that men need the same basic human rights as women when it comes to becoming a parent.

It would only seem fair that men should be able to opt out of caring for an unwanted pregnancy/child. I know that when a woman finds herself pregnant, and is not choosing to abort the pregnancy or put the baby up for adoption, her next step is usually to pursue some sort of support from the father. And of course with DNA testing, there is no longer doubt as to who the father may be.
But if the man is willing to relinquish all connection with the child, then in a sense he is putting the baby up for adoption. And why shouldn't he have that option. I mean, it's not the same thing as a dead-beat dad - if he hasn't already made the commitment to raise this child, and is willing to let go of the situation entirely, then he should have the right to do so. And then if the mother feels that she cannot care for the child without the father's financial support, then she can still have adoption as an alternative.
Cheers,
