i was planning on getting one of those but i had to buy other stuff 1st for me and my bike.

Just buy a tank bag and throw a map in there, it's actually kinda fun to get lost once in a while, you can find all sorts of neat roads doing that.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.
