Alright, so I got past Step 1 and now have my permit, so Step 2 is getting my gear. My manual says any types of synthetic material works. My question is, besides leather, what other types of materials are there? Are there any reasonable ones too? I'm not a rich person lol.

I have a pair of those in grey and black, they're pretty heavy, and you need to be careful, because the second set of plastic knuckle things don't always sit right, I had to return the right hand glove because I had a sharp peice of plastic digging into the second knuckle of my ring finger bad enough to break skin.
After I got it traded off they were a good pair of gloves. Fairly comfortable, but with a thick palm that somewhat reduced feel/feedback from the throttle. The backs are really heavy and keep my fingers very comfortably warm to about 5 degrees C on the highway, lower then that and I need a second pair of gloves underneath to keep warm.
All in all I'd recomend them as a spring/fall pair. If you live where it's always hot all the time... you might not like them as much.
