Hi,
I've been reading some reviews about bike helmets.. and many reviewers complained about the wind sound inside the helmet. Some of them even said that this sound is unbearable at speeds over 60 mph.

I want to ask you guys if anyone faced such a problem, and using what helmet..

Thanks

never experienced unbearable wind sound w/ my shoei RF1000.

and i estimate i've gone around 100mph already.

if it will bother you, a lot of riders wear ear plugs while riding, especially on freeways and probably on the tracks as well to minimize noise.

I have an HJC (the kind that flips up) I don't know the model but the wind noise ins't bad at all with it...

As long as you buy a quality helmet that seals well at the visor/flip up face I don't think you'll ever have a problem.

I have a Scorpion EXO700, and while I wouldn't say the noise is unbearable, it is too loud for comfort. Long term exposure to such noise will damage your ears, so I advise wearing earplugs if the noise bothers you even slightly.

My CL-14 is loud compared to other helmets apparently, but I've got some cheap ear plugs to take care of that.

estimate? you gots a speedo dont ya man? as for helmet noise, i didnt hear anything with my HJC, and im shellin out the dough for an arai when i get my next bike so that should be wonderfull. Now when i say i heard nothing i didnt mean it was totally silent. I could hear the engine reeving, and the wind gusshing by but it was never very loud.

Bike speedos are notoriously innacurate.

i had my speedo and gear indicator covered w/ tape s for quite some time now for various reason, so that's why it's an estimate.

and like sev said, my bike's speedo is optimistic. i heard it's shows around 5-7% faster than what you're actually going.

Regardless of your helmet, you should be wearing earplugs for extended rides (longer than, say, 20 minutes). Even a bike's exhaust at speed is loud enough to permanently damage hearing. Wind noise, even on a fully faired bike, is even louder.

Do your hearing a favor, throw in some earplugs.
