i just started using them a week ago when i go to school so i don't carry them around anymore.

but then i always park now at the edge parking lot near the sidewalk. it's supposed to be "no parking" there but they don't seem to mind it's a only bike that parked there.

BTW... motorcyles can park on sidewalks, right? i mean at least if you're gonna go inside the store where you parked in front of.

I use my holder if I'm at the movies or something - If I'm just running into the grocery store or the convenience store in a well-trafficked area and I'll just be a minute I just throw it into a bag I have on the back of my seat. You can certainly get a ticket for parking on the sidewalk. You usually won't but don't be surprised when you do.

Check your local laws. In the area of PA that I'm in, motorcycles are required to park in the same manner and areas as cages. The exception is that you can put 2 bikes in one metered spot (I believe. Not positive on that but, I see it done all the time).

I always put my helmet either over the handlebar if Im running for a short trip or I lock it to the handlebar with my little helmet lock.

I dont park on sidewalks. I usually always park on the white striped area at the front where the handicapped spots are. Just be sure to park in a way that is not in the way of whoever parks in that spot, there's usually tons of room at the front part where you know that you are well clear of their way.

I've parked in lots with horse police patrolling and patrol cars parked right nearby. The most they've done is wave hi to me.

Though I wouldn't start up the bike when the horse is right next to you

oh but when i go to work, i don't use my helmet holders. since we're required to park in the employee parking lot and it's not visible from the front door of the clinic.

i've seen a bunch of bikes park in the sidewalk around here. but yeah, i guess i'll check local laws.

on school... i've seen bikes park in that no parking area im using and earlier, i was even seen by those school patrol mobiles and they didn't bother me.

DeVry has a bike-only parking "island" surrounded by concrete curbing with openings that are only wide enough for a bike to roll through.

As far as the helmet holders, mine doesn't have any. If it did I'm sure the helmet would end up resting on the hot exhaust anyway. If I absolutely have to leave my helmet behind, I use a cable lock and lock it to my bag supports.

I wouldnt park like that at a university. Usually they have designated motorcycle parking spaces (which you of course pay for, like everything else). But they'll be happy to ticket you for anything they can...they have nothing else to do and they're pressured to raise extra money for the school that way. You'd think they work off commission or something.

I think most regular cops could care less so long as no one complains and you aren't parking like a jerk.

Either I am stupid, or my helmet holder is a Rubix Cube!

I occasionally put my helmet over the sissybar (pad missing, not sure this will work when it is replaced).

I tend to be a mirror storage guy, can screw your mirror aim up, but it's not a biggie.

The helmet lock on my bike took me forever to figure out how I could get the key in, helmet on, then reach the key again! It was baffling. I tend to go about these things the wrong way, and if I just flipped my helmet all would be beautiful. Now I have been doing it so much it is no problem. I wear a XXL or XXXL helmet (depending on brand) which could contribute to the spacing issue :-D

As far as sidewalks go, I will park on the sidewalks in front of stores, particularly in the rain. Partly because people in Raleigh drive so poorly, I am suprised a car has not hit a plane yet! Sometimes I park on the sidewalk to get the "look at that biker trash parking right in front of the Barnes & Noble. How gouche!" Gives me a chance to work on my sneer!

i dunno where they are on other bikes but on sport bikes... they're under the solo cowl or the passenger seat, whichever you're using.

remove the cowl/seat, hook the helmet strap on and put the seat/cowl back.
