WooHOO! Did my own 12K service!

With some help from friends:
engine oil and filter change
transmission oil change
final drive oil change
new spark plugs
new air filter
adjusted the valves
AND synchronized the throttle bodies
I had the dealer do all the ABS brake stuff... not gonna touch that, yet.

Final drive oil? ABS? What are these strange technologies of which you speak, O Prophetess?
(sorry, couldn't help myself...... I ride a Bonneville, a slightly less sophisticated breed of machine....)
Very cool. I could see my wife and I doing this. (Actually, I could see my wife, a former Air Force jet engine mechanic, doing this while I "help"....
)
In Jersey, MSF courses can be administered by private companies. Our RAT pack leader is an instructor with one of these companies, he says they're thinking of developing a "do it yourself motorcycle maintenance" curriculum. I hope they follow through, I think a lot of people would be interested. Shop charges at my local dealership are $70/hour, it adds up!

Very cool, for sure!! Hats off to you Lion Lady for doing all that work! My husband is a bit of a gearhead (when he's not being a high school teacher and dad...) so I'm hoping that he can help me unravel the mysteries of my own bike. Even adjusting the chain and changing my own oil will be cause for celebration in my house!

Good goin', Lion Lady! So far I've just done oil changes on my bike. I know that I'm capable of doing more. I used to wrench our old cars with "Scan" back in the day. Once I changed out an alternator on our '74 Malibu by myself because Scan had to be at work. I had to keep calling him with mentally challenged questions. I got through it though! I'm looking forward to doing more real work on my bike once it's out of warranty.
