Bernardo Tiburcio Claims Career-Best EMX250 Result with Second in Italy

Yamaha 115 M78 Bedetec’s Bernardo Tiburcio has secured second overall at EMX250 round seven in Italy. The Brazilian rider, competing on the Yamaha YZ250F, charged to a third-place finish in Race One before going one better in Race Two to claim a career-best runner-up result. VHR Yamaha Official EMX250 Team’s Jarne Bervoets placed 24th overall.

From the sand of Latvia two weeks ago, the EMX250 series headed to the hardpack, hillside venue of Montevarchi for round seven. Adding to the challenge was the heatwave that was affecting the area, with Race Two brought forward on Sunday morning to avoid the higher temperatures.

Tiburcio had demonstrated his speed and potential early in the season with his third-place finish in Race Two at the opening round in Spain. In the first race in Italy, the talented youngster started comfortably inside the top 10, and as the race continued, he worked his way forward to cross the finish line in third.

The second race unfolded in the same way for Tiburcio. From seventh on the opening lap, he climbed to third shortly after the halfway stage and made the pass for second with three laps remaining. In an exciting end to the race, Tiburcio crossed the line just over two seconds from the race winner, and EMX250 series leader, Francisco Garcia.

Second in Race Two secured Tiburcio a career-best second overall result and his place on the podium. Tiburcio now sits eighth in the series standings.

VHR Yamaha Official EMX250 Team’s Jarne Bervoets completed both races in Italy to secure 24th overall, and the Belgian now sits 27th in the championship after missing two rounds through injury.

JK Racing Yamaha’s Jekabs Kubulins also posted two consistent results, finishing each race in 13th for 14th overall. The result moves the Latvian up to 10th in the standings with five rounds remaining.

The 2026 EMX250 series continues next weekend with a trip to Agueda, Portugal, for round eight on June 27-28
