Honda officially opened its new motorcycle production factory in Aliağa, Izmir, marking a significant milestone in the company’s long-term commitment to Turkey and to the expansion of its global motorcycle business.
Operated by Honda Türkiye A.S., the new facility is Honda’s 38th motorcycle production facility globally and has been established to support the rapidly developing market for motorcycles in the country, where demand for personal mobility and commercial applications such as delivery services has increased significantly in recent years. Turkey has become one of Honda’s key growth markets. In 2025 Honda took the number one position in the market for the 11th consecutive year.
Production started in April 2026, with an initial annual capacity of 100,000 motorcycles and the potential to expand to 200,000 units in the future. The facility is expected to create around 300 direct employment opportunities, contributing to economic development in the Izmir region.
Designed in accordance with Honda’s global manufacturing standards, the Aliağa plant will focus on quality, efficiency and flexibility. It will enable Honda to deliver high-quality, reliable and affordable motorcycles while strengthening local production capabilities and supply chains.
The opening ceremony was attended by representatives from Honda Motor Europe, Honda Türkiye management, public institutions, local authorities and business partners, highlighting the strong cooperation between Honda and the region.
Hans de Jaeger, President and Director, Honda Motor Europe, said: “The start of production at the Honda Türkiye motorcycle factory is a strong expression of our confidence in the market, the importance of it to our global business, and our commitment to long-term cooperation and prosperity. We sincerely believe that this facility will make significant contributions both to Honda’s global production network and to Turkey’s industrial development, employment, and sustainable growth goals.”
Satoru Yamada, President Honda Türkiye A.S., “This production plant, which we have established in İzmir, Aliağa, is a clear expression of Honda’s strong belief in Turkey, its long-term vision, and the close, trusted relationship we have built here over many years. For us, the true measure of success is not only economic figures. It is about creating an impact that touches society and adds value to people’s lives.”
The facility spans a total area of 100,000 square meters, including 45,000 square meters of indoor space and will play a significant role in strengthening the local supply chain, supporting regional development, and generating economic value. The new Aliağa motorcycle production facility has been designed with a strong focus on environmental responsibility, in line with Honda’s global Environmental Vision. Honda Türkiye also continues to contribute to society through social responsibility initiatives, including traffic education programs and tree planting projects aimed at reforesting areas affected by wildfires.
With this new facility, Honda further advances its strategy of localized manufacturing, sustainable growth and delivering mobility solutions that support everyday life and business across Europe and beyond.
