Kawasaki offers a complete family of KLX140R models to get the whole family involved in off-road motorcycling.
The KLX140R is designed more for the youngsters with the smallest wheels and lowest seat height; the KLX140R L has larger wheels, taller seat height and more performance-oriented suspension; and the KLX140R F utilizes full-sized wheels and frame so that taller riders can comfortably join the fun out on the trails.
The KLX140R motorcycle is available in three model variations and is designed to provide an off-road experience with memories to last a lifetime. The powerful 144cc, four-stroke, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine features an electric starter and keyless ignition. Its broad and smooth high-revving 144cc engine utilizes a manual clutch and five-speed transmission to offer an efficient and user-friendly feel. The KLX140R uses a 17” front and 14” rear wheel, while the mid-sized KLX140R L motorcycle is equipped with 19” front and 16” rear wheels to accommodate taller riders, providing extra ground clearance. The KLX140R F comes equipped with full-size off-road wheels and tires, using a 21” front and 18” rear.
Featuring confident handling, KLX140R motorcycles are the ideal entry into off-road riding. The easy-to-ride KLX140R lineup offers a 144cc engine, plush suspension and push button electric start, making for great trailblazers.

CONFIDENT HANDLING
LIGHTWEIGHT RIGID FRAME
A lightweight box-section perimeter frame made from high-tensile steel provides exceptional rigidity and strength. The narrow profile contributes to an easier rider grip and smoother movement on the bike. Working together, the highly capable suspension and lightweight chassis deliver handling that exudes confidence.
The KLX140R L trail bike features larger wheels (19F, 16R), taller seat height (31.5-inch) and higher 10-inch ground clearance, while the KLX140R F trail bike features full-size wheels (21F, 18R) and 12.4-inch ground clearance.
ELECTRIC START
The high-revving, 144cc, air-cooled SOHC 4-stroke engine easily starts with the push of a button. Air-cooling eliminates the need for radiators, keeping the chassis slim and lightweight while a 5-speed transmission with manual clutch delivers smooth shifting and acceleration.
FRONT AND REAR DISC BRAKES
Front and rear disc brakes provide strong progressive stopping power. The 220mm front petal disc with a dual-piston caliper is complemented by a 186mm rear petal disc with single-piston caliper, inspiring confidence on the trails.

• U.S. Forest Service-approved spark arrester in the quiet-running muffler allows access to designated public riding areas.

Progressive Manual Clutch on the KLX140R L/R F
• A spring damper is utilized to provide two-stage clutch engagement that facilitates partial clutch use when riding at extremely low rpm or idling speeds.
High-Level Suspension
• Sturdy front and rear suspension complements the highly rigid frame.
• 33mm front forks have spring rates and damping settings specific for each KLX140R model.
• KLX140R rear shock has 5-way adjustable preload.
• Since the KLX140R L/R F is likely to be ridden harder, the rear shock features a piggyback reservoir, threaded preload, 4-way compression and 22-way rebound damping adjustments. Both the shock body and reservoir are aluminum.
• The upgraded shock can be fitted to the KLX140R.
Full-Sized Wheels (KLX140R F)
• Full-sized wheels on the KLX140R F enhance handling and tractability over irregular terrain.
• Larger wheels increase ground clearance to help the KLX140R F better navigate trail obstacles.
• Chassis dimensions are optimized for larger wheels.
Petal Disc Brakes
• Unlike most playbikes with disc/drum combination brakes, the KLX140R models feature disc brakes at the front and rear for a higher level of brake performance.
• Petal disc design helps reduce unsprung weight while the wave shape helps clean the brake pads and increases cooling efficiency for more efficient braking performance.
Race-Inspired Ergonomics
• Rubber-mounted handlebar clamps reduce vibration transferred to the rider’s hands.
• The handlebar clamps are separate from the upper triple clamp, making it easier to install aftermarket handlebars.
• KX-style handlegrips with half-waffle design aid grip and rider control.
• Dual-texture seat cover uses a slip-resistant top surface for added grip when seated and smooth sides for excellent mobility
