– 2003 Triumph Speed Triple
Speed Triple
There has never been anything quite like the Speed Triple for an exhilarating combination of performance and brutal good looks. Other manufacturers have tried to match it, but have never come close to capturing the magic that makes it one of the Hinckley factory’s most recognisable machines.
The sheer attitude of the bug-eyed twin headlights means there’s no mistaking the aggressive profile of this definitive factory streetfighter. Equipped with the 120bhp second generation three-cylinder engine tuned for towering mid-range performance, the Speed Triple is the most powerful machine in its class by some margin.
The chassis is a typically Triumph blend of lightweight, strength and agility with a compact 1429mm wheelbase and a responsive 23.5 degree steering angle. With fully adjustable suspension front and rear, this machine backs up its arresting looks with an extremely capable chassis performance.
With the same 320mm dis cs and four-piston calipers as the Daytona, the braking performance is nothing short of astonishing and establishes the Speed Triple as much more than just the most visually distinctive motorcycle on the road. This is a machine that delivers a riding edge entirely in character with its unique appearance.
Few bikes ever achieve iconic status, but the Triumph Speed Triple is already one of those rare machines. The unmistakable Roulette Green makes a welcome return to the 2003 colour line-up along with a new Silver option.
Triumph’s extensive range of tailor-made accessories, including performance exhausts, security alarms, luggage and colour co-ordinated body extras, meets the needs of those individuals who want to make their Speed Triples even more unique than they already are.
If ever a motorcycle defined a boldly adventurous approach to building bikes, it’s surely the Speed Triple.
