Roberts Takes Second Place at a Dusty WHS Round Three Fort Sage

At the 2026 Golden Shamrock Hare Scramble, Zane Roberts delivered a solid performance that saw him finish in second overall, trailing the winner by a mere second. Competing aboard his Liqui Moly Beta Factory 480 RR, the defending race winner stayed on the rear wheel of the leader for nearly three hours of intense racing. Roberts briefly took the lead before the two riders came together in a racing incident that sent the then-leader down. However, a minor crash of his own later in the race disrupted his flow, forcing him to go full send on the final lap to reel the lead back in. Despite a strong late-race charge that brought him right to the leader’s rear tire in the final turn, Roberts ultimately crossed the line as the runner-up in one of the closest finishes in AMA West Hare Scrambles history.

“Decent weekend at the third round of the AMA WHS. I got off to a good start, but was just edged out for the holeshot. With how dusty the race was going to be, I knew it was important to try to strike early and get out of the dust. I took every opportunity I could at the lead whenever there were moments of less dust, but wasn’t able to make it happen in the first couple of laps. Lap three after we pitted, I was able to stay close the first couple of miles and took a pretty risky shot at a pass, which briefly worked out before our lines came together a couple corners later and I went down. I remounted quickly, but unfortunately had another crash that same lap that really took the wind out of the sails for a while. Eventually, I started to feel my flow again and was able to charge the last lap to get back in the fight, but with the dust, I just wasn’t able to make anything happen before the end. Really felt like I should have won that race, but I needed to execute the start better. We will work on it!”
