The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing team had a great day at the Spring Creek National, the eighth round of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship, held in Millville, Minn. on Saturday. Phil Nicoletti scored a top-10 finish with a ninth overall, while Michael Mosiman overcame a first moto crash to charge from the back of the pack to 18th, then followed it up with an impressive sixth for 12th overall on the day in the 250 class. Teammates Mitchell Harrison and Jordan Bailey went 11th and 13th, respectively, in the 250 class.
Phil Nicoletti got a decent start in the first 450 moto and rode consistently in the top-10 to finish seventh. He was mid-pack at the start of the second moto and quickly moved into the top-10. He was seventh by the second lap then went back to eighth. He rode consistent in eighth the majority of the race before falling back to 10th with three laps to go then finished 10th. He went 8-10 for ninth overall on the day.
“Millville was great,” said Nicoletti. “I made some changes over the break. I felt really good in the first moto and ended up eighth. I felt great in the second moto, but mentally I wasn’t there. I’m not sure what happened, but I have Washougal next week and I’m looking forward to it.”
Mitchell Harrison was mid-pack at the start of the first 250 moto and was 13th by the end of the first lap. He stayed consistent and made one more pass to finish 12th. He got a similar start in the second moto and rode strong to make great passes and finish 10th. The 12-10 finish gave him 11th overall on the day.
“Overall, it was an interesting day,” said Harrison. “I needed better line choices, but I still feel strong. I’m pretty good at next weekend’s race at Washougal, so I’m looking forward to that.”
Michael Mosiman started in the back of the pack in the first 250 moto after going down right after the start. He had some ground to cover. He charged the entire moto and put in a good ride to finish 18th. He got a better start in the second moto and was riding strong in the top-10. He consistently advanced through the field the remainder of the race and put on a great ride to finish sixth. He went 18-6 for 12th overall.
“It was a good day,” said Mosiman. “This is a great track. I had a rough practice, but I started feeling good once I got the flow of things. I was on the outside in the first moto and got a decent start, but crashed mid-sweeper. I got back up and was dead last, but then made it up to 18th. There was such a big gap to the next guy, but I got closer toward the end of the race. It was good and I rode really well. I got a ninth place start in the second moto, then gathered myself and started nailing my lines to move forward. I reeled and got caught up in the lappers really bad. I rode really well and caught up to sixth. I’m excited for next week.”
Jordan Bailey was mid-pack at the start of the first 250 moto and came out of the first lap just outside the top-10. He rode a strong race and finished 13th. He got a good start in the second moto, but tipped over after the start and had to play catch up. He worked his way up to a 12th place finish. The 13-12 finish put him at 13th overall on the day.
“The Millville track was awesome,” said Bailey. “Practice went well, and I got a pretty good start in the first moto but was shuffled back. I got a great start in the second moto but had a small tip over. I stayed around 12th. I’m looking forward to Washougal. I’m going to keep making progress.”
