Suzuki Motorcycle Weekend Action September 28-30

Team Suzuki Press Office – September 27.

The fifth and final weekend of September sees the Buildbase Suzuki Team in action at the penultimate round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship, staged at the historic TT Circuit Assen, Netherlands.

Known as The Cathedral of Motorcycling, Assen has now hosted a leg of the BSB series for several years; and this weekend, Suzuki’s Top-6 Showdown contender Bradley Ray is aiming to put his GSX-R1000 back into the thick of it and challenge for the top-three places this weekend. He currently holds fifth position with 524 points, just seven away from third, but a tall 80 points from the lead, but there’s five races still to run (a total of 125 points available) – two races at Assen and three in the final triple-header at Brands Hatch on October 13-14th.

Ray’s team-mate Richard Cooper is currently 15th in the ranks following an up-and-down season that has seen some strong performances, flashes of brilliance, mixed with some unfortunate slip-offs and incidents outside his control, but he is well capable of getting inside the top-10, having shown excellent form at this circuit in 2017 when the then team Superstock rider debuted as a BSB wild-card, scoring two strong point-scoring rides against the best of the BSB paddock.

BSB Free Practice sessions begin tomorrow, Friday, at 10:30hrs (local time) with Saturday’s final FP3 at 10:45
hrs. Qualifying begins at 14:00hrs and the first of Sunday’s two races will be at 13:35hrs, with the second race at 16:35.

September 30: Round 11. British Superbike Championship. TT Circuit Assen. Netherlands. Bradley Ray and Richard Cooper are back in action on their Buildbase Suzuki GSX-R1000 machinery at The Cathedral of Motorcycling. The circuit first hosted the Dutch TT and remained unchanged until 1955 when a new circuit was built close by, much shorter and more like a current road racing circuit. It was, however, completely redesigned in 2006 into the 4.545 km, 12 right-hand, 6 left-hand-cornered layout that is used in the MotoGP™ World Championship.

The is no Superstock 1000 race at Assen, so Buildbase Suzuki’s Billy McConnell will be sitting it out. The Australian is currently second on points after 10 of 11 rounds, 10.5 points off the lead aboard his Buildbase Suzuki GSX-R1000; with a total of 50 points up for grabs over the weekend’s two races at the Brands Hatch season finale.
