Today I sold my bike. Shocking, right? Well, kind of. You see, I put it up this past weekend as I thought it would take a while to sell but it sold in 24 hours. Totally shocking.
I decided to put it up while summer is still around, in preparation for our big move back to Canada. But I had no idea it would go so quickly.
The problem with shipping it back is her model was never sold in North America, so it wouldn't pass and/or couldn't be insured unless it passed. And even if it did somehow pass, parts would have to come overseas as there wouldn't be much locally. (shipping would be about $750 I have heard + changing out the gauges/clocks and the headlight).
We could ship it to Canada, then Canadian Customs could say "nope" at the dock and we would be left with the choice of either destroying the bike or shipping it back (at our cost) to the UK...
Re: shipping it back to Canada... I'm not attached enough to it to even consider it. The bike I sold in Calgary to move here in the first place was my baby, if anything I would have loved to bring it here. But it really isn't economical and at the end of the day the stuff we own is just "stuff".
Re: moving back to Canada... Good question! They are keeping me chained to my UK desk until my replacement is in place and trained. Unfortunately we've been recruiting all year with no luck (it's a rare skill set) so the agreement is for me to stay a bit longer. I assume we would be heading home within 6 months, therefore making for a winter sale of the bike. Yikes!
Re: saying no way... Absolutely! I just counted my lucky stars that it wasn't a difficult sale because I'd hate to be stuck with it up until moving day. We did that on the Canada side of the move and it was far too stressful!!!
Isn't that basically a naked version of the Katana 750?? do a fighter conversion of a Katana when you get home...they are all over the place for under $3500 CDN...I think the GSXF750 got a bad wrap for what it wasn't...not a super sport, not a tourer...just a sportier commuter...I like them...
Actually, I guess it is more of a 750cc naked Bandit...similar bikes though...
And it sounds like a welcome back may be in order shortly into the new year??
Later.
-=-= Remember, if you're not having fun you're doing it wrong!! =-=-
The Katana was the closest to the GSX750Y but still not the same. The biggest difference is in the engines - mine was derived from the GSX-R (was a kick-bum engine!!!). Mike says the best way to describe it is mine was a naked Gixxer, the Katana is a faired Bandit 600. Okay, that's pretty close but you know what I mean!
Yep, we'll be home "soon"... next summer we definitely have to do some TMW touring around Alberta!!!
