I plan on putting one or two bikes up for sale soon. Just waiting for the weather to warm up a bit more and for people to get antsy to ride.
I've never sold a bike before. How do you handle test rides? I'm thinking no rides unless you have a valid motorcycle license and the full asking price in ...

Well, I rode over an took a look at it. Let's just say this guy is a character. And I mean that in a good way.
The bike is complete, but in pieces. The tank (excellent shape) is off the bike. Carbs are off but operate freely. The seats were in the shed. He has the stock seat and a leather Corbin ...

Kawasaki W650
So, there's a guy in town that has a W650. We saw him on it a couple of years ago at the Farmers Market and spoke with him for a while.
The next time we saw him, he had a little road rash and said "That's why I don't ride anymore".
Fast forward to a week ago. Ran into him at a local pub and ...

It's a soap opera for men. Sit back and enjoy it! :)
That said, I've read LOTS of stuff anout the "quality" of the bikes...popcorn welds, etc. They're not so much builders as they are assemblers. The buy frames, handle bars, rims, engines, etc.
Still, I'm just a hobby-ist that can't even weld, but ...

What are your thoughts on these bikes? There's one for sale locally. It's a cafe' project but the price is low...I think I could get it for ~$500-650.
It has no seat (pan was rusty), needs brakes bled, and "needs the clutch adjusted". Otherwise the bike is clean and runs well; carbs rebuilt, etc ...

Flip That Bike! (Honda Shadow 600)
A co-worker of mine has a "lady-friend" who has a 2001 Honda Shadow 600 Deluxe. It seems she was engaged recently and financed the bike for her future husband. Turns out he was a loser and stuck her with the bike and the payments. She just wants to get out from under it.
It will have a clear title ...

Honda CM400
What's your thoughts on a CM400? I can get a complete bike with title, but the head is off the engine...however, it comes with a complete, rebuilt engine I'd have to put in the frame.
I can get the bike for ~$400-500. I haven't seen it yet, so I don't know what it needs as far as chain/sprockets ...

That's understandable. I'm sure that's why lots of people go with a newer bike.
I can turn a wrench. One of the first purchases I make (be it an old car or old bike) is a Chilton/Clymer/Haynes manual. I'm also lucky enough to have a local bike shop that is honest and deals with older bikes of any ...

RE: Beginner bikes; Why not Vintage?
I see there are lots and lots of "what's a good beginner bike" threads here. Many people seem to be financing their first bike. Often that first bike is a 250 that will (possibly) be outgrown rather quickly.
Why not a vintage bike? I, for one, prefer the look and style of the older Japanese bikes ...
