Honda CM400

#1 Unread post by scott s »

What's your thoughts on a CM400? I can get a complete bike with title, but the head is off the engine...however, it comes with a complete, rebuilt engine I'd have to put in the frame.
I can get the bike for ~$400-500. I haven't seen it yet, so I don't know what it needs as far as chain/sprockets, tires, etc.
I'm not so concerned with seat, paint, etc. because I'm dying to do a little cafe' racer or bratstyle bike. This one would be a project for me and MonkeyMaw...we would do absolutely as much as we could ourselves. Paint, install new engine, etc. Not looking for a show winner, just a really cool little rat-bike/cafe'/bar-hopper/bobber/thing-a-ma-jig.

I have a '82 CM450, which is very similar to the 400. No speed demon of course, but air cooled twin likes to rev and the bike is pretty light and nimble. Ive also thought of making it into a little cafe project someday. If you are over 6 feet tall you may find the bike cramped though.
