My only advice is to be equally cautious and defensive on ANY road you take.

Great advice and trust me I am. I was telling my gf, they are both dangerous routes, which is why I will be practicing in the parking lots and just driving to work until I get some experience under my belt.

I'm going ...

Which route would you take?

I may be getting my bike this week. I have been getting the run around from two different dealerships..but that's another story. Anyways, I won't be riding on the street until after the msf. Even after the msf, I plan to ride in parking lots for at least a month, but I have a question.

I live in a ...

All I can offer is... if folks see that they're getting to you, they'll continue. If you are still undecided, then they'll get to you. All you can do is take advantage of every possible avenue to increase your knowledge of the risks and do whatever you can to improve the odds in your favor.

Just wanted to update. Today I placed a down payment on a 2008 Kawasaki Ninja 250R. So I am going ahead with it. Thanks again to all of you guys for your advice.

I've thought long and hard, and I'm going to do it. It's just on my mind to much and it will never completely go away. I'm going to get a list ready of safety gear and start looking at some suzuki dealerships for the gs500f.

The next available MSF coarse isn't until august, but I can get the gear ...

Thanks for the replies, they really help how I view the possibility of riding. I'm still not sure, but I am getting ready to enter another msf coarse. Time to look for a bike and gear.

I think it's more the opinions of my loved ones that have stopped me. I have a girlfriend that really supports me ...

I need some honest advice...

Last year I gained an interest in motorcycles. I have no clue why, but I got the bug bad. I did my research, lurked this site for a while and took two MSF classes to get my license.(couldnt do the figure 8 the first time). I then quit cold turkey because of the influence of family members and my own ...

Re: What do you think of my plan?

I am currently a senior in college and I'm now taking the MSF coarse. A friend of mine has a sv650 and will take me to a secluded area on the weekends to practice different skills. My plan is to buy a suzuki gsxr 600 after graduation in may. I also plan to take the MSF coarse again in the spring as ...

bravehearted,

I think everyone here has given your great cautionary advice. I'd like to add, crawl before you walk. In all aspects of the learning to ride a motorcycle experience. It will make the difference in a worse case scenario should one occur.

Just saw a photo of the bike your talking ...

I passed the msf coarse the week of Oct. 20th. Haven't had time to come report back. I did much better and felt extremely comfortable on the bikes. I did much better on the box, but not perfect(3 points off).

I plan to take the coarse again in the spring before I start practicing on my friends ...
