It turns out it was the seal dragging on the shaft. A little lube did the trick.

I have ridden both the '04 Vegas and an '05 Hammer. I thought both bikes were very nice. I was surprised how much power they have, mostly the Hammer. Thanks guys.

I have had a lot of bikes but have never had this happen.

The bike is a '75 xs650 twin. I think that the shaft is binding on the seal, I will investigate this weekend and see what I can find. I may have to dig into the tranny. That is always fun.

Shifter

I am having probelms with the shifter on my bike. Just recently it started acting up. What is happening is that the shifter is not returning to center after a shift and I have to do it manually with my foot before shifting to the next gear. Any ideas what may be causing this?
