Yeah, I always wear slow-rebound foam ones.

Oh, I hate those things. They are highly effective, but when I'm on the road with my motorcycle, my fingers tend to get a little dirty...

That's why I always use the reusable silicone plugs.

I once saw somebody (a non-biker) with a stereo headset ...

Re: Is it common practice?

You're saying that all three of you (yourself, the car beside you, and the motorcycle) were all travelling the same direction, and the car was keeping beside you, and the motorcycle behind him, wanting to move on faster? This actually is common practice. It should not be any more than a momentary ...

Personal height and even physical strength has absolutely nothing to do with the type of bike you should ride. Riding a motorcycle is all about balance. You only need one foot on the ground, and one butt cheek on your seat, so if you have the feel and balance for your bike, height is irrelevent ...

My favorite CB's are the CB400F 4cylinder for it's sexy 4 into 1 exhaust. And the CB550.

I liked the CB500X (aka CBX500). Very neat little bike. For looks, I liked the CB750K with its chrome fenders, spoked wheels, and 4 into 4 exhaust.

I had a '79 CB750K with a Vetter fairing and samsonite ...

yeah, i really dig the 70's honda bikes. i had a feeling F was the sport model but what makes it sportier then the K models?

Handlebar position more than anything else. All the CBs are 'ergonomically correct' motorcycles, so you needn't be too choosy. Just pick the one that's the nicest overall ...

I think it would be difficult to make flashing brake lights illegal, as defensive drivers have been manually flashing their brake lights before braking for as long as I've been around. So how is an autmatically flashing brake light any different?

As far as their effectiveness, they are VERY ...

I don't as a rule ride over manhole covers. I usually just go around them.

I have heard of a number of people who've slid on wet manhole covers or crashed from open manhole covers, but don't have any personal experiences.

I once had a cop on the Oregon coast, who doesn't ride, write me a warning ...

In motorcycle-rich areas, people are used to headlight modulators, and you don't suffer that kind of confusion.

It's only one tiny step to conspicuity. I think the rider's behaviour and awareness is far more important. :)

The long delay in engagement is the biggest tip-off.

On a little 250cc training bike, you can even tell by the lack of top speed. Of course, that's probably irrelevent information. :)
