Update:
Put new plugs in and adjusted the idle. Now runs great.

I am in the process of bringing an old 1980 Yamaha Maxim 650 back to life. I have cleaned and rebuilt the the carbs and it started and ran pretty good until tonight. I now has the following problems:

I am working on this old 1980 yamaha maxim 650 that has not been ran in 6 years. I pulled the carb bank out and cleaned them up (I think) and put back together. I did notice the carb holders are cracked and I will order new ones. In the mean time, bike will start right up and idle with full choke ...

Put the meter to the switch tonight. I have a good connection between the hot wire (red) and the blue wire (tailight) when the switch in in the on position but do not have any connection between hot wire (red) and brown wire (to fusebox). After looking at the wiring diagram at Daves Website (GREAT WEBSITE!) I think that there is something wrong with the key switch itself. It looks like it splits power off the switch to two different locations, one to the fuse box for the headlights, ignition, etc. and the other to the tail lights ...
