Pilot Air Jets and Main Air Jets

#1 Unread post by mrhoades »

I am looking for somebody that sells Pilot Air Jets and Main Air jets for a 1980 Yamaha 650 Maxim I have torn apart the carbs completey (see idles rough post). In the process, all jets were so junked up (rust, sludge) that I am having to drill out what is left of the jets (brass breaks no matter what I try and penetrating oil is not helping). I can find the main and the pilot jets all day long, just no the air jets.

You need new carbs. The air jets MAY be available from the carb manufacturer, but if you've been using a drill in there, you will need new ones.

Check ebay, junkyards, etc. If the next set of carbs is gunked up, be patient, buy a carb dip or get them professionally dipped. There are plenty of chemicals out there that will clean a carb without resorting to using a drill. Compressed air works wonders for blowing grime out as well.

Not sure for your model, but I bought a rebuild kit for my CB360, it came with new jets. The kit was around $24. E-Bay usually has scads of them...
