I'm really into the vintage look.
I'm thinking classic Triumph, Bridgestone, Norton, Indian, early Harley.
The Kawasaki 800 Drifter is getting a second look, although I'd be sorely tempted to repaint it and add too much chrome.

Ducati? Lov 'em, but the insurance in Hawaii is BRUTAL!

Aloha

I just want him to admit he hates to look of scooters and doesnt want to be seen on one

Actually, I like scooters, especially vintage Vespas. but with rare exception, the rest look like krap (Big Ruckus??). I've got no beef against the Burgman's, but the styling is weak at best. I do like the ...

It's hard for me to put "scooter" and 650 in the same sentence.
Off the top of my head:
1) It rains every day in Hawaii. People drive slow, but lazy. Scoots vs. cagers at every intersection.
2) I'm going to be living in Kailua and traveling into Pearl Harbor every day. Getting over the Pali or ...

I had a Royal Enfield in 2001 for about 9 months; I bought it because it was cheap, looked kinda cool and had some neat features (remember the pub light?). I sold it with 156 miles on it. My general rule was that I could not ride it farther than I could push it back home. Interior of the gas tank ...

I cannot face the idea of a scooter...

You're right....my VMAX was the original "point and shoot" motorcycle.
I broke in H3 (I've lived in Hawaii twice before) when it first opened by shooting the east/west run at just over 130 mph. I stupidly stuck lifted my head up to gauge the distance to the tunnel (it was 3 am) and almost snapped my ...

Are there any decent 500-600cc non-sport bikes left?

Moving to Hawaii in June and would like to step down a bit. I just sold my BMW R1100R and for the past 18 years have ridden a VMAX, or a BMW. I have a fairly short commute in Honolulu, obviously won't need a serious road bike and am to old (and would look too goofy) on a sport bike. My wife sez get ...
