possible

something to keep in mind:

Honda used "caliper pins" for a couple years in the early 80s and these pins had a habit of wearing unevenly, and the calipers will get stuck in the grooves on the pin instead of sliding on them. Check these pins and and grease replace them if they're not smooth.

tires?

Can I put a 130/80/15 Metzeler tire on my 89 Kawasaki 454LTD which calls for a 140/90/15 tire?

Thanks

i swear every single kawasaki owner (including me) has had the problem with the kickstand switch. you'd think kawasaki would have learned and fixed it between 1989 (mine) and 1997 (yours)

I had an 82 xj650. There should never be oil in around the stator. That's electrical and separate. Odds are that whenever your bike's on the kickstand that's the lowest spot, so it runs along the engine until it gets there and then appears to drip from there. The crankcase gasket is a possibility ...

just wanted to let you guys know what happened:

i cleaned the carbs, but they were pretty darn clean inside already. This didn't fix the problem, so I went and bought a new set of plugs. I'm guessing that the plugs weren't A-1, so they were slowly fouling and then not firing at all eventually ...

the last post is a definite possibility, also check the petcock if it has a built in screen (which I think that year does).

with that information, bulbs are my first suspect. If the back turnsignals are burned out/taken out, it'll keep the fronts from blinking the way the circuits work. So check for bulbs, use ohmeter to check continuity if they're there, and check the wires going to the turn signals if those both check ...

hahah yeahh Buzzz you're right. but the old bikes are the most fun haha.

The bike has been running reallllly hottt. (wayyy hotter than my 81 cb750)

So yeah. In the next few days I'll clean the carbs out and I'm guessing that'll do it.

Thanks.

Yeah JohnJ I was just trying to avoid that on yet another bike haha.
The other thing is, I'm hesitant to tear them open because it runs do darn good for the first 8 minutes. It has better throttle response than my friends 07 gsxr.

I tested out the coils already but I have another set I'll try ...

will it foul the plugs if it's running too lean? i know it does if it's running rich.

no luck with the gas cap trick :-/
