Since our last Cool Wall bike (which was a 800cc tourer) was so popular let's bring out the big gun battleship and see how the Honda Goldwing does! This might be the base Gold Wing but there is nothing base about it's luxury list of features.

Jebus, why don't you just get a car.
People say I'm stupid and apathetic. I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

I can understand the Goldwing by itself, it's the Goldwings with sidecars (with able-bodied riders), and/or trailers that I ask that about. If you honestly need enough room to fit stuff that you need a 'Wing and a trailer, you could probably fill a Cadillac pretty easily.

I am gonna go with cool mainly because the big Wing is in a class by itself. There are other that are close, but they just don't quite come up to the Wing's shoulders. And for a big arsed monster, its pretty maneuverable and quick, if I am not mistaken the quickest time clocked doing the infamous Dragon is held by a Wing, or at least so I have been told.

Not my type of bike, but still cool.
Always ask why.

I'm pretty sure you're right on this. I know one guy that consistently smokes sportbike riders on it lives 5 miles from it and owns a 'Wing. From what I hear he's gone through 3 sets of valve covers on the thing. Now THAT is getting over...

I gotta go with Uncool.

I understand the reason someone might want this bike, and I understand the sort of people who may turn to this bike as a way to keep riding. This bike has it's place, and fulfills a necessary role in the motorcycling pantheon.

However, the same things could be said about Prius' (Prii, I think the plural is now), minivans, Smartcars and prenuptial agreements. All practicle, all necessary, all fatally uncool.

If I did a lot of touring, I would probably like this a lot more than I do. I think it's cool because of its potential...just impractical for day to day riding. Though, if I ever get to where I can't hold two wheels up, I'd love to trike a Gold Wing and make it a daily driver.

Personally I'm not a Goldwing fan, I'd much rather have a K1600GT, but I can respect the engineering that went into the wing. I see people hating on them all over but Goldwing sales probably make up a good chunk of Honda revenue. That said, i had to vote uncool because it just doesn't seem like a very fun bike to ride.

Good point. I was trying to figure out why I think the Goldwing is uncool. I was about to suggest that all its creature comforts kinda take away from the spirit of motorcycling, but that's a silly argument. The K1600GT arguably has more electronic/comfort/convenience/luggage doodads, and I'm fine with that bike (although I wouldn't buy one either).

I guess it's the Goldwing's stuck-in-the-80s Barcalounger styling that (IMHO) is uncool. Of course, as has been mentioned, in spite of its looks, these things can be hustled

There is no other bike that is in the same class as the Goldwing. I voted awesome, just be ause it is. Anybody that thinks this is a cumbersome bike, has never ridden one. Saw this video posted on a Harley site and the poster was suitably impressed...

I had this on demo a while back. it handles like a dream, plenty of grunt and an absolute pleasure to ride. Lots of gadgets and when you can scrape the centre stand in the corners without fear, well nuff said

I vote awsome
I spent my therapy money an a K1200S
The therapy worked, I got a GS now
A touch of insanity crept back in the shape of an R1200R

Voted: Uncool...

It's not really either, but I can't say I would feel cool riding one...even though it would be a great bike to ride and tour on...there should be an "Okay" choice...I wouldn't feel like a dork, but definitely not cool.

Later.
