KZ 750 1982 NO SPARK

#1 Unread post by rdhussey »

Hi,like the title says, I have a 1982 Kawasaki KZ750. I bought it in boxes and have just finished customizing it ... only to find NO SPARK!

The wiring harness seems to be in excelentshape - totally clean and taped well. All components are also installed correctly according to the wiring diagram which I have. The plug wire resistance seems nominal. I even checked the electronic ignition and the wires/gap/hookup look fine.

I have power to the whole bike - horn, light, signals, al guages and waring lights. When I hit the starter I get no spark from either coil. I'm assuing it is the IGNITER but I'm not sure enough to buy a new one yet. I was wondering if you guys have encountered this problem before.

Any testing methods I could try would be great. Ask for additinal info and I"ll hand it right over.

THANKS A BUNCH

I fixed it .... it had to do with the ignition key switch. It wasn't providing enough voltage to power the coils or igniter. Thanks, but no carbs required! I have lots of spare parts for kz's if anyone is intested post a reply thx!
