Replacement armour for small people

#1 Unread post by mahgnillig »

I recently got a Joe Rocket Phoenix jacket (women's size medium). The jacket fits alright, but the armour is a lot more uncomfortable than the armour in my Frank Thomas winter jacket. I tried to switch the Joe Rocket armour for the Frank Thomas armour, but the Frank Thomas armour was too big to fit in the pockets on the Joe Rocket jacket.

Does anyone have any recommendations for more form-fitting armour that I could put in my Joe Rocket jacket? Most of the stuff that I've looked at seems to only come in one size, so it'd have to be cuttable. Plus, the current Joe Rocket armour is not CE rated, and since I'm familiar with CE ratings (being a Brit in the USA), I tend to trust in that standard (not sure even if there is something comparable for USA standards?).

I'd also be interested in a replacement back pad... the one in the Joe Rocket jacket is as stiff as a board, and isn't contoured at all. I saw a jacket insert back protector from Dainese at Cycle Gear that looked like it was more contoured... anyone know if this is more comfortable than the stock Joe Rocket foam thing?

Thanks,

- Jen.

So do you hav to put the Ninja Turtle getup everytime you hop on the bike? To be honest, it seems it'd be a PITA and I would end up not using it. My current jacket has armour so I don't even think about it.

I have a mesh jacket that includes the ninjas turtle spine protector, as well as ce grade armour on the shoulders and elbows and chest padding.

It is good, last summer I wore it a few times under a lightweight jacket.

As to the question. Can you get friends/family to send you out some of these? http://www.hein-gericke.com/uk/product_ ... ts_id/1756
