KFC sued for its customer's stupidity

Gotta be kiddin me with this stuff.

For anyone not interested in clicking links, this story is about yet another bunch of people sueing fast food for having an unhealthy menu. These people actually want warning labels (like we have on cigarettes) that tell you that fat, greasy foods are bad for you.

Are you kidding me? What are these people thinking? They cook their food by dunking it in a big pot of boiling grease. Fat! And the bread and chicken is so saturated with it that it coats your fingers with it. Put it on the paper napkin and it becomes invisible!

If KFC wants to change the way it cooks its food, good for them. But no one should have any grounds to sue the company for serving the food the same way its done for 50 years.

I'm so sick of hearing people whine and complain when really they should be taking care of themselves. Don't think KFC is healthy? No freaking kidding! Don't eat there then! Are you fat and having heart attacks because you eat McDonalds for breakfast, Wendys for lunch, and KFC for dinner? How is that their problem? The problem with these types of lawsuits is that these stupid people end up getting rich and reproducing instead of just dying like nature intended.

Pretty rediculous if you ask me. Gotta love people's get rich schemes because they're too god damn lazy to work for their money.

That kind of mentality needs to be stopped. Everybody suing everybody else because the other guys is making money and they're not.

Quite a few years back people were saying the same things about putting warning labels on cigarettes.

Since obesity (& Related illness) is rapidly becoming the #1 killer in the usa, expect much more of this kind of stuff...

True, but at the time the tobacco companies were telling everyone that smoking was okay. One even had an ad claiming it was GOOD for your health!

There was alot of public misinformation about cigarettes and the dangers of smoking. This isn't the same at all. Everyone knows fast food is not healthy. Everyone was taught a proper diet in elementary school.

These people aren't getting fat because the companies are involved in a conspiracy to keep down the dangers of fast food diets, they are fat because they eat the junk all day because its fast and cheap and they are too lazy to make their own food.

Everyone knows fast food is not healthy. Everyone was taught a proper diet in elementary school.
to combat this, the fast food chains introduced salads and yogurt and other "healthy" alternatives. Even these "healthy" alternatives offered by the fast food outlets are usually so stuffed with fat it's not even funny, but the fast food companies try to tout these as a way to eat there and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

the fast food companies know they produce a product that is unhealthy as a mainstay of your diet...they will swear up and down that people must enjoy it in moderation, but get rich because people don't.

i'm not slagging the fast food companies though, because i enjoy a fast food burger probably more than i should...but i wouldn't sue them because i am overweight anymore than i would sue budweiser for that time i fell down and ....hey i need a lawyer now!

I DO agree with you on most points. It would be worthwhile to note, however, that many of the elementary schools teaching "Proper nutrition" have candy and soda machines all over the place and in the worst case have lunches provided by fast food companies.

All while cutting recess time and PE programs.

I think people reap what they sow, but at the same time, it seems like sometimes the decks are stacked in favor of corporations over people. Maybe you believe that, maybe you don't. I'm on the fence on this topic. It's easy to see both sides of the story. (In all areas too, not just fast food, but in retailing as well - )

Good point bok.

The healthy food was just designed to bring in a new growing health-nut consumer who refused to eat fast food. They saw that market growing so they jumped on it.

Next to a greasy McBurger, the salad option IS a lot healthier. There's no doubt about that. Most of these places even have fliers that say that living healthy involves eating a correctly balanced diet and getting good exercise.

How much you want to bet that all these fat people complaining about McDonalds food haven't run a mile in 10 years?

And ALL of these fast food places have the nutritional value information of everything they serve RIGHT THERE in the store. Most of the time its posted! Sometimes you may have to ask for it, but its right there for everyone to see.

Sorry...I get your point, but this is an issue of personal responsibility...as in these people dont take any.

I agree...except for the soda part. Soda is basically candy, its sugar and water and flavoring. Big 'duh' that you can't live off it. But then again, I recently ate one of those SmartOnes healthy meals. If I wanted to consume as much sodium from a Coke as I got from that one SmartOnes sandwich, I would have had to drink 30 cokes.

Well...If we weren't such a "fast paced" society; places would be able to fry their food correctly. When food is fried correctly (first at a "low" temp to cook the inside and then a higher temp to brown the outside) very little oil permeates the food. Really, the only way to get oil into food that is fried is to leave it in there too long (or not have the oil hot enough). So, if you were to cook, say, 1 pound of french fries, the correct way, there should be less than a teaspoon of oil in that whole batch (can tell by re-measuring the oil afterwards).

Bah. Ok, so I am a little too into cooking

Anyway, I hate how "sue-happy" we've gotten. "My kid got hit by a car because he was playing his piano in the street.....I want the city to pay me 10 million dollars and put up signs that say 'Caution, Children playing piano'"

I enjoy fast food...But I not only do I prefer to eat healthier food; I can't afford to eat fast food all the time. That stuff is EXPENSIVE!!

The reason why lawsuits like this even exist is because the U.S. doesn't implement the "Loser pays" practice. You can sue all you want, but if you lose, you cover the defendant's legal fees. They used to call it the "British way", but it's really the "Rest of the World way".

Because of this, the U.S. is the haven for litigation lawyers. They thrive in this country because it's a free for all. Sure there's thousand upon thousands of frivilous cases that are thrown out each day, but if you hire the best lawyers, they'll be able to dig up ANY loophole possible. It just has to be profitable to them to expend the amount of money toward efforts on winning the case.
