Laconia tragedy - group riding

Chilling scenes from New Hampshire...

This story raises questions in my mind about group rides, something I have been hesitant to do. I usually ride solo, occasionally paired but had recently signed up for a 100 mile charity ride which I figured (perhaps wrongly?) would be pretty safe place to start. I dunno...this story has me re-thinking, one guy's error had a big multiplier effect and evidently cost a bunch of lives and serious injuries..
If you're going through hell, keep going.

I'm always leary to Ride w/groups that I don't know, as a matter of fact I rarely do this!
Just another issue a Bike Rider has to deal with that cage drivers aren't aware of.
Usually I try to get at the end of the group.
