Hello everyone. I thought I would drop in and say hello to everyone. A few of you already met me in the beginners forum. For those of you that didnt, I'm a first time motorcycle owner. I just bought my first brand new bike on Saturday, a 2006 SV650. The thing is awesome, it's like having two different bikes, 1500-7000 RPM its good and torquey and you can lug it around, 7000-11000 RPM its a screamer, it just doesnt seem to run out of power. Today was my first chance to put some real distance on it. Saturday and Sunday I was only able to put about 40 miles on, I didnt have my permit yet but I could couldnt resist tooling around a bit. Monday I got my permit, and on Monday and Tuesday I put on about 120 more miles. Today I was able to go out and put on 180. Bike seems to be breaking in great, I do notice a slight noise during light throttle at speed, its hard to place, but its probably just induction noise. Is there anything I should be looking for at all with this bike? So far the first 340 miles have been a joy, although, after 180 miles today, my knees are a little sore.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot about my title. Bugs Suck. I've been a snowmobiler for the majority of my life, and bugs have never been a problem. I've had to clean my faceshield every night this week, my helmet is a mess right now. What do you guys use to clean your shields? I've been using Zymol carnuba wax to clean/protect my shield, it seems to work alright, and cleans up real nice.
EDIT: BTW, I think I'm gonna be addicted to 90 degree V-twins.

Hit 500 miles today, cant believe I hit 500 in one week. I'll be taking it in for the 500 mile service on Monday, how much has everyone else paid for their initial dealer service? I really love the sound and power delivery of the v-twin, I definately prefer it to the high pitched whine of the in-line 4's.

Yeah, my butt is a little sore, the SV doesnt have the most comfortable seat in the world, but I'm getting used to it.VermilionX wrote: 500 miles in 1 week, that's cool!
