I feel old when songs that were new on the radio when I was a teenager are now being played on the oldies station. It was bad enough when the turned up on the classic rock station, but now the OLDIES station.

I'm 36.
A dog had his chain reduced one link at a time, every few days, until his chain was so short he could barely move. He never resisted because he was conditioned to the loss of his freedom slowly, over time. Are we in this country becoming like the dog?

Did you have to do this, Loonette? :D

Can't wear a pony tail any more.
And don't have enough hair for a mohican.

Back when I was a kid:
If you were cool, you wore a DA ('Duck's Arse') haircut.
If you were square you had a 'Short back and sides' like your dad.
Bill Haley did 'Rock around the Clock' on the TV, and Mum nearly passed out in horror.
You were either a Mod or a Rocker (Yay! up the Rockers!).
There was only ONE channel on television - The BBC.
Our television set had vacuum valves in it. So did everyone else's.
I used to go to school on a steam train.
We used a little metal adding machine at school which had a handle on it.
All cars were black and had running boards.
There were no motorways.
British bikes were the best in the world.
'Queer' meant odd and 'Gay' meant happy.
My toy train cost one pound, nine shillings and elevenpence ha'penny.
Nothing was made of plastic (Plastic? never heard of it)
For your bike test you had to ride around the block without falling off.
Everyone thought sex before marriage was deeply shocking.
The queen was a young woman.
There were no supermarkets or shopping malls.
In pubs, you drank bitter, or brown ale or stout (what's larger?) and it was warm.
Just about everyone smoked and smoking was allowed everywhere.
We'd never heard of 'collateral damage.'
Everyone liked Americans.
And I still have my post-war (WWII) ration card.

Groan!!!!!

Growing old, however, has never been part of my life plan.

Brmmmmmmm!!! Brmmmmmmmm!!!

Mine won't happen until August. My oldest son is turning 20. I feel old just thinking about it.

I'm not sure if this occurred in the last year but here it is anyway.
I remember when I was a teenager in high school and we were talking about the year 2000 and I was thinking, wow, I'll be 47 in the year 2000. 47, I could not even comprehend being 27 let alone 47. Now 47's long gone. How did that happen?
I always follow the rules.
The only exception to the rule occurs when I make an exception to the rule not to make an exception to the rule and that only occurs under exceptional circumstances.

Only 19 but I felt 'old' this morning when I was getting up for work and I looked out my window and for some reason flashed back to a scene where I was getting up at around the same time a couple years back, but instead of slogging my way out of bed to get in my car (yah, not even a bike..) and drive to work it was jumping out of bed to hop on my bycicle and ride to my friends house to play.

It made me sad for a moment and then I realized I was gonna be late for work and didn't have time to reminesce which made me even more depressed.
Have fun on the open /¦\

I'm 35 and don't feel old at all. No gray hairs yet, but maybe they just blend in well with blonde hair. Not bald yet either. Altho, I'm sure thats in the cards for me eventually.

The only thing that makes me think I'm old is when I look at my mom. She's actually starting to look old now & it makes me sad.
