I always thought it was because of earthquakes.Bachstrad37 wrote:I never understood why Cali houses never had basements. I was in Houston and noticed the same thing. I don't notice it out east in Virginia or NY. You'd think that a nice cool basement in southern climates would be ideal.
I dropped my bike on June 11th. Less than 2 hours after getting it. I was practicing out in my parking lot; learning how to start from a stop without stalling or having the bike jerk too much. A car pulled up behind me and my bike was in the middle of the road so I had to move so they could pass. At the time my bike was stopped, so I had to start it up, I was some what rushed and panicked. I started up the bike, I was holding down the clutch, I rev'ed it to about 3-4k then I released the clutch too quickly. The bike jerked forward like it was going to stall, but instead of just letting it stall, in my panicked state I pull on the throttle. The bike shot out from under me, I was on the bike for less than a second before it dropped. I was very sad, to see my beautiful bike lying on the ground. The pavement in the parking lot had some gravel, but it was entirely the result of me releasing the clutch too fast when it was rev'ed up. There was some damage to my clutch handle, handlebar end, peg, center stand, a deep scratch on the top edge of the fairing, my exhaust may also be dinged from center stand, but I haven't checked it yet. That was a sad day for me

Couldn't get a lot more South without being French!
I could be wrong but I think the closest other member to you is SV-Wolf who is Reading way.
I don't suppose you are up for Bulldog Bash? It's looking like a number of the Midlands crew are going to be there...

It was today
Today on my lil Kawasaki 200 Z, 1979 model. I had dropped the bike when I first got it a few times at a stand still cuz I'm pretty short and small and had no idea how to move the thing when it was parked (wasn't I the dumb newbie?) I've been riding it for a month, taking the MSF this weekend. Was out practicing tonight and the closest stinkin' parkin' lot that is wide enough to practice is gravel and well, yep, the bike slipped on that and I think I had a nice low-side off it. Lucky thing is the blinkers, lights still work, horn still works, bike still runs, and the clutch gear which was pretty stinkin' stubborn (because the gear shifter got twisted due to one of the parked falls...the bike was parked outside before I had a chance to move it, windy night, and it fell pretty bad) and wouldn't shift into fourth has now been cranked around enough that the gears shift just right and the bike behaves itself better now instead of me having to argue with it and lose my mind over bein' stuck in 2nd gear
.
