Best MC gloves

I recently had a little low side, both me and bike are ok. One thing that did happen that disturbs me is that my gloves fell apart. I was probably going 50mph and the first thing that hit were my palms. I lost a small chunk of my thumb and had some rash on my palm. I thought I had a good pair of gloves on, but they really didnt hold up well. The rest of my gear held up just fine.

Any recommendations for some high quality gloves?

Just out of curiosity, what kind of gloves were the ones that fell apart on you?? I've noticed that some of the big-name brands like A* and Icon have terrible quality in their gloves, and they seem to be designed more with bling than safety in mind.

Held makes excellent gloves, but you will pay $$. I have a pair of Teknics that I like. One thing I look for in all the gloves I buy is the quality and amount of the stitching. Often gloves will have unnecessary stitching to add colors and other bling, at the expense of the integrity of the glove. For that reason I go for the minimalist type "basic black" gloves.

I have a pair of Icon Heavy Duty gloves. They suck. I've tried on other Icon gloves and found they similarily suck. The stitching had consistently caused the gloves to be poor. The amount of leather was fine had the decorative patches not been added.

My next pair will have minimal stitching and kevlar support.

I really like the Alpinestars GP Pro/Tech gloves. They're pricy, but very well ventilated and very protective. You can find a pair brand new on ebay for $160.

it has a lot of good features... the palm is even made of kangaroo leather.

Yes, pray thee, do tell. Some here might be wearing the same kind and not even know they're not that protected. Besides, I'm still shopping around too!

Check out foxcreekleather for various types of gloves. I have two pair of their deer skin gloves, one pair is unlined and the other pair is gauntlet & Thinsolite lined for winter. Deer skin is the hot setup in gloves because after getting soaked the dry nice and soft like before. I think Fox Creek also carries sport type gloves with more protection. Great people to deal with & never any shipping costs.
