I don't like loud pipes. When someone with extremely loud pipes roars past me, they make me jump.
When I ride in a group and a particular individual with the extremely loud pipes comes along, I cannot ride behind that bike because I end up with a headache. The noise is just plain annoying.

It's not amusing when folks with their excessively loud pipes rev their engines up even more to see how many car alarms they can set off.

as for the car alarm thing. that is also dependent on frequency. I have a VW bug with a built engine and aftermarket exhaust that will set off car alamrs, funny part is its not that loud, just really low pitched.

I'm not a big fan of loud pipes, for some reasons, loud noises bother me for the most part, makes me restless and jumpy. Unless it's a good rock band, then it's good.

I don't know. I don't mind loud pipes myself. To me, that's what a motorcycle is supposed to sound like. C'est la vie.

Loud Pipes Save Lives

I live in Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada, and I'm more then willing to meet you at the airport.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.
