They have plenty of old movies... but it really is set up to compete with cable for people who just want movies... for me, I find lists of movies people like (e.g. there was a "best movies" thread on this forum or people's best 100 movies lists) and say "I've never seen this... or this... or this or this..." and add to the queue.

You can adjust the priority... so if a new movie comes along you really want to see you just move it to the top of the list and you'll get that sooner.
Ride it like you think owning it matters.

I've been using netflix for a bit over three years. It's great for things like older movies and TV shows. They have just about everything that's out on DVD in stock, so you can watch loads of movies that they don't bother carrying in the video stores. I commute about 3 hrs/day on the train, so I go through movies like water, watching 4+ discs some weeks(sometimes I like to sleep  ). I definitely noticed a lag in service and a delay in getting popular discs for quite a while. I even complained to them that I could give a crumb about the money it cost me, just get me my discs on time. Eventually, I just increased my service level and I've not had any problems for several months now. Currently watching back seasons of 24, Sopranos, Six Feet Under and The Wire. Works out much better than shelling out 40-80 for each season that I'll watch maybe twice.

I hear they are making a remake staring Eddie Murphy... in every role...

I like netflix, I've used it for a long time, it's good for old movies, because they're usually in stock, and if you don't want to watch it when you get it, then put it on the shelf for a couple weeks until you're ready to watch it.

Give it a shot for a month. If you walk into your local Best Buy or search online there are free first month trials availabe. I cancelled about 2 months ago, when I noticed I'd had the same movies for 3 months. There's just now time these days, but before that I loved them. The movies were delivered rather quickly, and I enjoyed watching the T.V. serial DVD's quite a bit.

I have had thre service for many years now...I am very happy with it!!! You can put a movie on your list that it out at the movie houses...so when it is released...you won't forget about the name of the movie...etc...great service...

We love Netflix. No hassles. No late fees. And if we have ever had a problem with receiving a damaged disc, they send out a replacement before we even send back the damaged disc (you just report it online). And there's no big commitment - so if you decide that you don't care for the service, just cancel away.

Cheers,
Loonette
