not a mechanic, but even i am interested to see what happens here.
usually for me it will be a 5 cent washer or an air filter or something dumb that makes no sense at all (to me at least) with the symptoms that my vehicles display.

Honda sent the bike to another dealership. Felt pretty crappy about it but they thought a fresh set of eyes would help.

They have had the bike for two weeks and no word from them! We are supposed to get the bike back once they "fix" it to give back to the customer. I guess this RC51 is kicking their tail as well.

I was worried that they would find the problem quick. No need to worry anymore.

I had 4 hours in it.
The Honda service Rep. had 4 hours in it.
I wonder how the other shop is doing?

Will let everyone know when I know. I am also pretty durn curious!!

I called the shop that still has this bike today to see what was going on with it. They STILL have no clue whatsoever! They have countless hours in it and have gotten no further than I did.

I'm glad they DID take it off my hands! They also said that the customer calls them twice a week.

I wonder if this bike will make a trip to Japan.

Wow, it has been a really long time since I have posted on here.
My wife and I had a surprise baby 3 months ago! By surprise, I mean I had only a three hour heads up. She had no clue she was pregnant!

Anyway, with the RC51. It turned out to be the wire harness. And they replaced that because the Honda Rep told them to as a last resort. They were tearing the heads apart looking for broken valve springs, etc.
The customer is a "racer" and found some "info" on the internet about a soft rev modification that I presume does away with the rev limiter. In the process of doing the modification, he tapped/cut/spliced into some wires he shouldn't have. Visually, the problem could not be found as with other hack jobs.

So the customer was without his bike for a few months. But the kicker is that Honda did in fact cover it under warranty. And I was paid MY four hours!

p.s. I have a like new set of RC51 throttle bodies if anyone is interested

Congrats on both the baby and finding out what was wrong! I'm curious as to how your wife didn't know though! lol How's the new parent life treating you? I've got a couple of friends that have new babies, and while loving it, they hate it too! lol

Apparently it is not that uncommon. Heard on CNN where it just happened to another woman. And this was her second child. My wife showed NO signs at all! I noticed four days prior that she had gained a little weight, but nothing dramatic.
It has been a wild ride, that is for sure. I can't wait till I put him on my old '71 Mini-Trail 50! Thanks for asking, Wrider.

Wow, that's kinda crazy. I can only imagine how that must have felt. My aunt did an adoption, and my uncle called up up saying "Help, she's going through 9 months of hormones in 3 days, I need you up here!" But 4 hours? Wow, you're a tough guy, and you must have an amazing woman. Boy? Girl? Name? lol Just curious now. Anyway, best of luck, and have a great day!
