Defintely bringing my helmet to court Gromps. Tinted visor and all, and will gladly give a full demonstration with helmet on to show what it looks like having my visor cracked open. Maybe they can throw peanuts at me and try to get one inside my helmet.MrGompers wrote:RedBull,
The ticket you received was just a money grab. Go to court fight the ticket. Also, bring your helmet to demonstrate what it looks like when the shield is slightly cracked open. You are going to say the shield was slightly open right ?
Well that's good at least NY has it. We need it in OR. I've almost been run over twice by the cellphoners.Bx RedBull wrote:Here in New York, we do have a cell phone law. Can only talk on the phone while driving if using a handsfree device or earpiece. I've got my $90 ticket with complimentary 2pts on my license to prove it. And get this. The ticket itself was $40, but there's a $50 surcharge.Mag7C wrote:It's ridiculous there are laws like that and still nothing against people driving with cellphones or driving while eating.
Is there somewhere the average person even find all these laws listed?![]()

There is a helpful site that lists each state's motorcycle laws provided by rider friendly AMA. http://www.amadirectlink.com/legisltn/laws.asp
I'm sure that it is a safety guideline according to the MSF rule books but I know, at least in my course, this was not enforced at all. About half the class bought their own helmets which most had visors on them. The other half used the ones issued by the instructors. On 3 consecutive 90 degree days in August, it was very uncomfortable sitting on a 200 degree engine while baking in the sun. Therefore, most everyone in the class, myself included did everything short of removing the helmet during instruction, which included riding with our visors up. This not only made things a bit cooler, but also enabled us to easily communicate with the intructors.Lion_Lady wrote:Shouldn't be a surprise...
If you start the MSF riding test with your face shield up or no eye protection, you automatically FAIL. It seems that LEOs are simply buckling down on the law.

Florida also has a no helmet law, and they did enforce it. Luckily it was February and it wasen't that August heat !Bx RedBull wrote:
P.S. I took the course in Connecticut, where there is no helmet law. Obviously the MSF course requires a helmet at all times, but I wonder if the location had anything to do with the leniency of the intructors.
I agree cell phone laws need to be enforced, just not upon me.Mag7C wrote:
